Coronation Beach

Approximately 25kms north of Geraldton, Coronation Beach is boasts super smooth water in the bay surrounded by a small reef break, creating a large span of waves which, when coupled with the consistent southerly sea breeze of the Aussie summer, combine to make Coronation a very unique place to windsurf or kiteboard.

Coronation caters to all levels of all disciplines, whether you are a complete beginner, someone just looking to have fun or a top professional. It is regarded as one of the best windsurf jumping locations in the world and is frequently visited by World Champions throughout the Summer months.

In the bay, Coronation Beach is sheltered and offers a great family friendly beach. In clear conditions when the wind’s not blowing, the reef offers good snorkelling, with a large range of sea life, corals and seagrasses, as well as rocky channels and further out a variety of fish and crayfish.

There are limited sites for beach-side camping, run by Chapman Valley Shire, with only basic services, such as public toilets, available. If you’re keen to camp but like a hot shower and camp kitchen facilities, you can stay at the near by Goodies Eco Camp.

Your Coronation Beach Kitesurfing needs are catered for by KItewest, where you can hire gear for Kitesurfing, as well as get lessons by skilled instructors. If the wind’s not blowing, you can also hire Stand Up Paddleboards while you wait for the perfect wind conditions to get you kitesurfing in style.

Fuel is available 25kms away in Geraldton, Northampton or Nabawa, as is water, so please come prepared. The nearest emergency services and marine rescue are located in Geraldton, 25kms to the south. Coronation Beach is reached by a 2WD sealed road, has ample parking and a scenic lookout, great for watching the action on the water or watching for whales as they migrate up and down the Western Australian Coast. It is also the gateway to a number of 4WD tracks which go both north and south, and are NOT suitable for 2WD.
